Monte Carlo Rally opened, as usual, the 2016 WRC Season. Only Hyundai presented new aerodynamic package, while the rest of teams kept the same packages as in 2015.
Ford has announced a new package to be presented in March.
Hyundai new rear wing is similar to that of VW Polo WRC, but still, some differences can be found.
It is a more round shaped, longer wing compared to VW. Also, change of angle of attack is more gradual, and the distance between blades (clearance) is lower.
Comparison with the previous model shows new wing (left) is longer than that used in 2015 (right) and clearance is lower, so higher amount of air is forced to flow above the wing, and a higher load is obtained with a similar drag.
Hayden Paddon used the 2015 version of the Hyundai i20 WRC car in Monte Carlo, with the same rear wing used by the team in the previous season. It was its last appearance, as he will be using the 2016 car since Rally of Sweden.
